For 70 years, Hill Electric has been the trusted provider of electrical contracting services in the Upstate of South Carolina and beyond. Our commitment to fostering enduring partnerships and maintaining unparalleled standards of excellence has been unwavering throughout our journey.
Founded in 1954 by Walter Hill, our story began in the heart of “Electric City”: Anderson, SC. Inspired by the pioneering spirit of Anderson, Walter Hill set out to establish our legacy in the electrical industry. Recognizing the importance of succession, he later welcomed his son, Bob Hill, into the business, laying the foundation for generations of expertise and innovation.
As the Upstate continued to flourish, Hill Electric transitioned to meet the increasing demand for reliable industrial electrical services. Steve Kay became owner of the company in the late 80’s and led the company from the textile industry to the diverse sectors of automotive, paper mills, and beyond, we have continually expanded our capabilities to serve a wide array of clients. Over the years, our reach has extended to power industrial equipment across various sectors, including textiles, automotive, chemicals, cutting tools, food & beverages, plastics, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals.
With our growth came the need to strengthen and expand our team. Over the years, each leader worked to evolve the company by diversifying who we serve and how we lead as an organization. Recently, Mike Davis has passed the baton to Trey Thomas, who is currently operating as Hill’s President and Chief Operating Officer.
Still, though leadership is important, it’s the team behind Hill Electric that makes the company who it was and will remain to be. From management to superintendents, foremen, project managers, and office staff, we all embody our core values, which remain unchanged today. At Hill Electric, we prioritize safety, integrity, and professionalism in everything we do. Our commitment to creating a safe working environment, coupled with our dedication to quality and excellence, has earned us a solid reputation built on trust and reliability. Today, we hold many of the same partnerships we’ve had since the beginning—and have even been serving some of the same clients for 70 years.
Perhaps this is why Hill has been bestowed with the 2019 Better Business Bureau of the Upstate Business Integrity Award, the Diamond Status for Safety Excellence at the STEP Awards by ABC Carolinas, the Best in Business 2023 Gold recognition by Greenville Magazine and the 2023 Pillar of Anderson Award by the Anderson Chamber of Commerce.
As we celebrate 70 years of service, we are proud of the legacy we have built—one of community, customer partnerships, and employee loyalty. Looking ahead, we remain committed to advancing the Hill Electric story for many more years to come, enriching the lives of our employees and their families along the way.
