ANDERSON, S.C.Hill Electric, an Anderson-based Electrical Contractor for Upstate manufacturers, recently participated in SC Days, an event series presented by Tallo and SC Future Makers. The events—whose purpose is to offer high school juniors and seniors exposure to the industries across South Carolina—were held in a number of locations across the state this spring. The regional event in Greenville, held April 16, focused on Greenville and other Upstate-based industries and companies.

Alongside panels and presentations provided by other Upstate companies like Sandvik, PAI Pharma, and Bausch & Lomb, Hill Electric participated on a panel on the Skilled Trades industries alongside Langston Construction.

We shared with the 100’s of students:
· the vast opportunities in Skilled Trades
· why our industry is vital to South Carolina
· what a “typical” day in our world is like
· career trends
· types of certifications or degrees needed for skilled trades
· resume and interviewing tips
· YES, both companies are hiring

“Part of our mission at Hill Electric is to educate and lead the next generation of employees in our industry, and SC Days was the perfect outlet to get to meet students and shape their image of what a profession in a skilled trade industry looks like,” said David Wolke, Director, Labor and Safety. “We appreciate the hard work and effort that has gone into creating such an event to connect the current workforce with the future workforce, and look forward to participating again in the future.”

“Every day we are creating complex solutions on our job sites,” said Mary-Allyson Chauvin, Operations Administrator, Langston Construction. “I would encourage students to check out their local career centers and certificate programs.”

There are currently 12 SC Days events scheduled across South Carolina, running from March through May of 2021. More information can be found at Tallo.com/sc-days.
